The Pitch:

Blake Henson's (Phillippe) plans after high school included kicking back with his girlfriend (Balk) and enjoying his job at the local video store. One night, while working late, a video is returned that had been missing for months. It looks a bit battered so he pops it into the VCR to check it out. On the tape is the murder of a former classmate (Matarazzo) who has been missing for a couple weeks. The VCR eats the tape leaving Blake with no evidence. Blake must find the killer himself with that graphic image in his head to guide him.

The red screen fades out from an eyeball. It is the eyeball of Wallace Holmes (Hoffman). The camera focuses in on his face. We can see the sweat running down his face . His hand reaches up and wipes a bead of sweat from his cheek.

WALLACE
Fucking hold still bitch.

Another scream is heard. The camera pulls out to reveal him on top of a naked body (Matarazzo). He is naked as well. He is obviously raping her. They are in a basement with her tied down to some sort of medical counter. We see a table next to them with medical supplies on it.

WALLACE
Have it your way.

Wallace reaches over and grabs a knife off of the table and jams it through her mouth.

WALLACE
Now you'll hold still won't you?

Wallace continues his sexual act. The camera moves slowly away from Wallace to reveal a camera on a tripod, recording the whole thing.

CUT TO: Blake Henson's House. EXT. Blake (Phillippe) and Sean (Franco) are throwing the football around on his front yard.

BLAKE
Our first day as fucking real people and we're doing the same goddamn things we always do.

Blake throws the football to Sean.

SEAN
Shit man. Don't get me into that again.

Sean Catches the ball.

BLAKE
We're fucking graduates man. We need to act like it.

SEAN
We just woke up like an hour ago.

Sean throws the ball

BLAKE
Cause we partied till 7 in the morning.

Blake catches the ball. A 2001 Ford Mustang pulls up in front of Blakes house. The stereo is up all the way. The moonroof opens and Sybil (Balk) climbs out and sits on the top of her car.

SYBIL
Hey dudes. Wanna get the fuck outta dodge?

BLAKE
Nice graduation present.

Blake and Sean jog over to the car.

SEAN
Green is a good color.

SYBIL
The color of money.

BLAKE
Fuck ME!

SEAN
What?

BLAKE
I have to be at work in 3 minutes!

SYBIL
Then get in.

SEAN
Good thing you manage and don't have to wear a uniform.

BLAKE
So? When you're working with me, you don't either.

SEAN
I know.

Blake gets into Sybil's car. Sybil slides back down in. Sean backs away and waves them away.

The mustang drives off. The camera pulls away and we now see how big Blake's house really is. It has a three car garage and three stories. The front door opens and Joseph Henson steps out.

JOSEPH
Blake gone off to work Sean?

SEAN
Yeah.

JOSEPH
You working tonight?

SEAN
Naw. Tonight I have off.

JOSEPH
His car's still here.

SEAN
Sybil gave him a ride.

JOSEPH
Ah. Ok Sean, see ya later.

Sean starts off down the road.

SEAN
See ya.

He goes about two houses before he gets to his house.

CUT TO: Video Palace. Blake is getting out of the passenger's side of the Mustang. He shuts the door and walks over to Sybils side. He looks up and sees his 3 angry employees waiting for him.

SYBIL
Oooo. They're mad.

BLAKE
For 6 bucks an hour, they can stare all they want.

Blake kisses Sybil (who is still in the car) and steps back. She drives away and he walks over to the employees.

ANDY
Late?

BLAKE
Fired?

ANDY
I get it.

Blake, Andy and the other two walk into the store. Blake walks over to the bin and sees only 1 return. He walks up to the computer and scans it in. He then walks over to a shelf and puts it back up.

JESSICA
The way we have business, it's a wonder we stay open.

BRETT
With that new store a block away, no one rents here anymore.

BLAKE
It's cause everything is fucking DVD now. If the dumbass owner of the store would fucking realize that and buy some DVD's, we might have some customers.

JESSICA
Isn't he spending the summer in Cancun?

BLAKE
Yeah. That's why I have complete control of everything. Including hiring and promoting.

BRETT
You're gonna promote me?

ANDY
Or me. I'm the shit. You know that.

BLAKE
If I were going to promote any of you three, it would be Jessica. She has been here the longest. Andy. I wouldn't ask you to do anything except to kiss my ass. You are the most annoying fucker I have ever hired. Congratulations.

Brett starts to laugh.

ANDY
Annoying? How about that ugly ass girlfriend of yours.

Brett stops laughing.

ANDY
Yeah. She's one hell of a slut.

BLAKE
You are so fired.

ANDY
Who are you gonna get to work for me? The only other person who works here is Sean. He's an idiot.

BLAKE
He's my friend. I hired him because I like to hang out with my friends. You are a fucking moron. Leave. Now.

Andy leaves.

BLAKE
I don't think we need to find someone else to work for him. It's not like we're gonna have any customers.

Blake, Jessica and Brett sit down behind the counter on the floor. A clock pops up on the bottom of the screen that says 11:08. It soon fast forwards all the way to 9:54.

BLAKE
Wow. This is the slowest day we've ever had.

BRETT
Can we go?

BLAKE
Be my guest. I should have let you guys go at least 7 hours ago.

JESSICA
This job is the easiest job I've ever had. I just napped for 8 hours straight.

BLAKE
Yeah. For 6 bucks an hour too.

Brett and Jessica get up

BRETT
See ya tomorrow.

JESSICA
I won't. Seth works instead.

BLAKE
Whatever. This is pathetic.

Brett and Jessica leave. Blake remains on the floor. We see car lights shining into the building. We hear a video being dropped into the slot and a car peeling out of the parking lot.

BLAKE
Holy shit. We had a return.

Blake gets up and goes to the return. He is stunned by what he sees.

BLAKE
Angst? Man. That piece of shit was missing for months.

Blake reaches down and picks up the video. It's really battered.

BLAKE
Damn thiefs. Take a movie without renting it. Fuckers.

Blake walks over to a TV/VCR sitting on the counter and pops in the tape.

BLAKE
Angst! Who the fuck would steal that? That was the worst movie ever made.

The screen comes on. We can hear moans and screams occasionally. The camera is behind the TV facing Blake's face. We can't see what's on the screen, but from the look on his face, we get the general idea.

BLAKE
What the FUCK is this?

(pauses)

Hey. I know her. Sara. Sara Rider, that girl that's missing.

(pauses again)

And he's been in here a few times

WALLACE (V.O)
Bend over and take it like a slut.

BLAKE
He's raping her? Why the fuck would he tape it and return it?

WALLACE (V.O)
Fucking hold still bitch!

BLAKE
This is disgusting.

WALLACE (V.O.)
Have it your way.

Blake's eyes widen as he watches Sara die. Blake stops the tape and turns the TV off. He tries to pull the tape out but the tape is jammed.

BLAKE
Shit.

Blake pulls harder and the cassette comes out with the film dangling in the VCR. Blake pulls more and rips the tape.

BLAKE
Oh shit. No. Shit.

He frantically tries to wind the tape up but can't

BLAKE
Worthless.

He throws the tape in the garbage can.

BLAKE
Now what?

Blake stares at the TV screen.

BLAKE
I can't just shrug it off.

He moves to the phone.

BLAKE
Oh yeah. Like this will work. Hey Dad, I just saw this guy kill Sara Rider on tape.

He looks outside and sees a car in the parking lot

BLAKE
Oh shit. He's back.

He turns off the lights and moves to the door and locks it. He turns around and jumps when Sybil is standing behind him.

SYBIL
Jesus. I didn't mean to scare you. You should get a bell on that door. I was just using the bathroom for a minute, what's wrong?

BLAKE
Nothing. Well, this tape.

SYBIL
Oh. It ripped?

BLAKE
It was returned. It's the one that was stolen remember?

SYBIL
Angst?

BLAKE
Yeah. So I popped it in to check it out. It turns out that some sick fuck killed Sara Rider and taped it onto it.

SYBIL
What!

BLAKE
Sara's dead.

SYBIL
Let's get your father.

Blake moves to unlock the door. When he turns around we see Wallace standing at the door.

WALLACE
Let me in.

BLAKE
Jesus.

Blake seems to not recognize him. He unlocks the door and lets him in.

WALLACE
I'm looking for a movie that the other place doesn't have.

BLAKE
You're kidding.

WALLACE
It's a pretty bad movie. It stars Freddie Prinze Jr. It's called Angst.

Dramatic Chord.
Blake looks at Sybil.

BLAKE
What did you say?

WALLACE
Angst? You know. It's got Shannon Elizabeth nude in it.

BLAKE
No. Get out. We don't have Angst.

Wallace looks hard at Blake

WALLACE
Yes you do. I returned it today.

BLAKE
Fuck.

Wallace pulls out a knife.

WALLACE
Where is it?

Blake and Sybil back away.

WALLACE
Where the FUCK is it!

Blake grabs a video tape and hurls it at Wallace.

WALLACE
Shit.

Blake continues this practice, hurling about 10 tapes at Wallace who flinches each time.

BLAKE
Get the Fuck out now.

Sybil pulls out her cell phone

SYBIL
I'm calling your dad.

WALLACE
Like I'm fucking scared of someone's dad.

Wallace looks over and sees the tape in the trash can.

WALLACE
That wasn't hard.

Blake notices what Wallace noticed and charges him knocking him out of the store.

BLAKE
Fuck. The keys!

Sybil looks on the ground and sees that Blake's keys must have fallen out. They are out of his reach. He's holding the door shut as Wallace tries to push in.

BLAKE
Give me the keys!

Sybil picks up the keys and hands them to Blake. She then dials a number.

BLAKE
(groans) Back off. (groans again) Bitch.

Blake manages to shut the door completely. He locks it.

WALLACE
You're dead.

Wallace runs over to the car.

BLAKE
That's not your car?

SYBIL
No. I walked.

BLAKE
Shit. Run.

Sybil and Blake run to a back room of the store.
Wallace and the car floor it through the front of the building.

SYBIL
(on phone) Hi dad. It's me. Can you come to Blake's video NOW! There's someone trying to kill us.

Sybil hangs up the phone.

SYBIL
He's on his way.

Blake looks outside. He sees the car with Wallace still in the drivers sear. He appears to not be moving. He turns to Sybil

BLAKE
I think he's dead.

He looks back and sees no one in the drivers seat.

BLAKE
Where'd he go? (to Sybil) We'd better move.

They hide in a bathroom, locking the door.

WALLACE (V.O)

Where'd that fucking tape go? Ah. Thanks bitches. Enjoy your pathetic teenager lives.

He can hear another car pull up.

BRETT (V.O.)

Hey man. Are you OK?

BLAKE
Fuck. It's Brett.

Blake unlocks and opens the door.

BRETT (V.O.)
You're bleeding.

Blake gets in the main room.

WALLACE
Pain is relative.

BRETT
Blake?

BLAKE
Run. Get the fuck out of here.

BRETT
What?

Wallace moves toward Blake

BRETT
Blake are you OK?

BLAKE
I'm fine. Get out of here.

Brett moves away. Wallace turns and throws his knife through Bretts neck.

WALLACE
Ouch. That's a bitch.

Wallace grabs the tape and then runs to Bretts car and peels out of the parking lot.

BLAKE
(almost a whisper) Brett.

Sybil comes out.

SYBIL
Shit.

BLAKE
That sick fuck is gonna get fucked up

A car pulls into the parking lot at high speed

SYBIL
Shit.

The two head for the back of the store and turn around to see that it's Joseph's car.

CUT TO: The police station. Joseph is questioning Blake and Sybil.

JOSEPH

A fat guy?

BLAKE
Not huge, but portly. Ya know.

JOSEPH
Estimated weight?

BLAKE
Whatever Shaq weighs.

SYBIL
Probably 230-240

JOSEPH
What else?

BLAKE
Glasses. Blonde hair. Missing a tooth when he smiles.

SYBIL
Pale skin. Maybe 6 feet tall.

JOSEPH
What exactly did you see on the tape?

BLAKE
He was on top of Sara. Raping her.

JOSEPH
(to Sybil) Did you see it?

SYBIL
No.

JOSEPH
What happened to the tape?

BLAKE
The VCR ate it and I got mad and threw it away cause the film ripped. You couldn't have played it.

JOSEPH
We do have experts that could analyze that though.

BLAKE
I didn't really think. Come on dad, go out there and get him. I know you believe me.

JOSEPH
I do. But without anything to grab him with.... I'm at a loss here Blake.

SYBIL
What do you mean?

JOSEPH
Only you two know what this guy looks like. I can't nab a guy I don't know what he looks like. You say he's fat, blonde, glasses, medium height. You pretty much described every fat guy in the town. Half the town has blonde hair. You do, Seth does, your mom did. Shit.

BLAKE
I understand.

Blake gets up.

BLAKE
I'm going home.

Blake leaves the room.

SYBIL
You know that guy has killed two people now that we know of. He almost killed us.

JOSEPH
I'm sorry. Really. I want so badly to be able to do more.

Sybil gets up

JOSEPH
Thanks for being there for him.

SYBIL
He was there for me.

Sybil leaves.

CUT TO: Sean's basement. Sean and Blake are sitting on a couch watching TV. The camera is positioned as if it was the TV. The Blink-182 song "Adam's Song" is playing in the background.

BLAKE
(singing)... please tell mom this is not her fault.

SEAN
At least you're alive.

BLAKE
Fuck that.
(grabs a beer beside him)
Fuuuuuck that.

SEAN
Are you going to tell her dad?

BLAKE
Right. (mockingly) Um. Mr Rider? Hi. I'm the kid who picked on your daughter a lot in high school. I watched your daughters rape and murder on a videotape. Sorry! (normally) How's that?

SEAN
You don't have to be a bitch about it. Jeez.

BLAKE
What would you do?

SEAN
Huh?

BLAKE
If you were me.

SEAN
I'd find the fucker myself. You know what he looks like.

BLAKE
Yeah. He's a killer though. He's dangerous.

SEAN
So are you. Remember in football when you tackled East High's quarterback and he was in a coma for 3 days. He can't play sports anymore.

BLAKE
He also can't see out of his right eye. That's why I quit football. I fucked up some poor kids life, and for what? There's no money there. (drinks his beer) Just some fucking coach who wants a good record.

SEAN
Go after him. Find him.

BLAKE
Right. Sure. I DON'T EVEN HAVE A GUN AT HOME.

SEAN
I do.

BLAKE
I'm not gonna do it.

CUT TO: Outside Blake's house the next morning. Blake, Sybil, and Sean are standing outside.

BLAKE
I cannot believe I'm doing this shit.

SEAN
We're looking for a fat blonde guy right?

BLAKE
Oh yeah. Like the day after he murders someone he goes out and shops or something. Sure. This'll be easy.

SYBIL
He killed your friend.

BLAKE
I made fun of Sara.

SEAN
She's talking about Brett.

BLAKE
Oh yeah. Sorry.

SYBIL
Should we split up?

BLAKE
People in movies always do that and then they die. Let's not.

SEAN
Sybil and I will check all the major places. You follow up and check some of the major places too.

BLAKE
Fuck that. I'm not going solo.

SYBIL
You want me to go solo? Sean sure as hell can't. He doesn't know what we're looking for.

Just then Andy pulls up. He gets out of his car.

ANDY
Brett told me about last night.

BLAKE
What?

ANDY
I just got off the phone with him. He said you nearly killed him.

SYBIL
You talked to Brett?

ANDY
Just a few minutes ago. He called my cell.

BLAKE
Let me see that. (Blake grabs Andy's cell and checks his history) That's not his number. (Blake calls that number)

ANDY
What are you doing?

BLAKE
Shut up. (on phone now) Who is this?

VOICE
Who is this?

BLAKE
Fuck off. I asked you first asshole.

VOICE
I think you have the wrong number.

BLAKE
I'm looking for Sara Rider. Maybe you've raped her before?

VOICE
What the fuck? Who is this?

BLAKE
Tell me who you are and I'll tell you who I am.

VOICE
Meet me at Video Palace. 5 minutes. (Blake hangs up)

BLAKE
Andy. We're using your car. Drive us to the video store.

ANDY
What store? You drove your car through it last night!

SYBIL
We'll explain later.

The 4 get into Andy's car and drive off.

CUT TO: Video Palace's parking lot. People have pillaged the store for their tapes.

BLAKE
Fuck. All the tapes are gone!

The 4 get out of the car.

SEAN
I guess I'm unemployed now.

SYBIL
What is that?

The 4 approach the wall. There is a note:

SUCKERS!

They look at each other and run before the wall explodes knocking all of them down.

BLAKE
This guy is really pissing me off.

ANDY
What guy?

Two feet step in front of Sybil. She screams. The camera shoots up to reveal Roger Rider. Sara's father.

ROGER
I'm gonna get killed for this. Get up. I may only have a second.

Blake and Seth get up. The other two follow.

ROGER
The man you are looking for is Wallace Holmes. He owns the other video store where my daughter worked at. They had a "relationship". She began to sleep with someone else, someone I don't know. There is someone out there who wants to kill me if I say anything. I can't turn to anyone but you. I know that's corny, but my life is on the line. When you get to Wallace, kill him for me will you.

Roger pulls a gun out of his pocket.

SEAN
Roger wait!

A car pulls into the parking lot at high speed and swerves to a stop. The window rolls down and gunfire begins. The 4 run away but Roger stands and shoots out the tires and two of the windows before getting shot himself. He falls down and dies. The 4 ran into the store where they are staring in disbelief at what has just happened. The car can't pull away. The driver (Wallace) gets out.

BLAKE
That's him.

SEAN
I'll follow him.

SYBIL
What's he doing?

Wallace walks over to Andy's car and opens the gas tank. He lights a cigarette and throws it in. He turns toward the 4 and the car explodes sending Wallace through the air. He smacks against the side of a building, gets up, and walks away.

SEAN
He's mine.

Sean gets up and runs after Wallace. Sybil, Andy and Blake follow. For a fat guy, Wallace runs surprisingly fast.

Wallace runs across the busy street. Sean follows, Blake next. Andy attempts but is smacked by a semi.

SYBIL
Fuck.

Sybil decides it best not to go on.

SYBIL
Keep going.

Sean and Blake show why they were good football players. They catch up to Wallace and tackle him.

WALLACE
Get the fuck off of me.

BLAKE
No. I want to know everything.

WALLACE
Tough shit small dick. I ain't telling you shit.

Sean headbutts him. Wallace is knocked unconscious.

SEAN
We'll take him back to my place.

BLAKE
Where are Sybil and Andy?

the two turn around and see a big commotion in the street. An ambulance has just pulled up and are picking up the pieces of Andy.

SEAN
Even unintentionally this guy kills people.

CUT TO: Sean's Basement. Sean, Blake, and Sybil await Wallace's awakening.

BLAKE
I think you really hit him hard.

Wallace wakes up

SEAN
Finally.

Sean unsheaths a knife from his pocket. We notice that the couch that Wallace is tied up on is covered in plastic, as is the floor around him.

WALLACE
What the fuck am I doing sitting here. (to Sean) Who the fuck are you?

SEAN
Doesn't matter.

BLAKE
Where is the girl?

WALLACE
Wouldn't you like to know.

SYBIL
Yeah. That's why he asked you.

SEAN
Tell me Wallace. Have you ever been castrated before. I hear it's an ugly process.

WALLACE
I ain't showing you a body. There ain't a body no more.

BLAKE
What?

WALLACE
That bitch dumped me cause I got her pregnant. I fucked her real good.

BLAKE
Yeah I saw the tape.

WALLACE
You know where I work?

BLAKE
No.

WALLACE
The meat department of the grocery store.

A huge pause is here.

BLAKE
Oh (pause) my (longer pause) God.

WALLACE
Hehehe.

BLAKE
Cut his fucking penis off right now.

Sean unzips Wallace's pants.

WALLACE
Don't you want to know more? Who else fucked her brains out? I know you're dying to find out. It'll kill you. I know you want to know Sybil.

Blake's cell phone rings.

BLAKE
Shut him up.

He answers it. Sean puts a pillow over Wallaces face. Surprisingly Wallace doesn't budge.

BLAKE
Hello?

JOSEPH'S VOICE
Where are you?

BLAKE
Dad. Um.

Sybil nods toward Wallace.

SYBIL
Do the right thing here.

BLAKE
I've got Wallace.

JOSEPH'S VOICE
(stunned) what?

BLAKE
We found him.

JOESPH'S VOICE
That's impossible. We just identified the dead body outside the video store as being Wallace Holmes.

BLAKE
(to Sean) Get his driver's license.

JOSEPH'S VOICE
Where are you? I want to see what you've got.

BLAKE
Sean's basement. Come on in.

Blake hangs up. We hear a door open upstairs.

BLAKE
That was fast (shouting) Down Here!

SEAN
It says Wallace Holmes.

SYBIL
Are you Wallace?

WALLACE
Shit.

Joseph comes downstairs and shoots Wallace in the head.

BLAKE
Fuck.

Everyone jumps back and away from Joseph.

JOSEPH
Twins. Fucking Twins.

BLAKE
The guy. At the video store. He didn't look anything like him.

JOSEPH
The body I found did.

SEAN
What?

Blake turns around and looks at a bookshelf. He sees a pistol on it.

SEAN
That's right. Wallace said there were other people involved. Sometimes shit like this has more than one person.

BLAKE
I know what I saw Sean, you were there.

SYBIL
The guy looked nothing like him!

JOSEPH
You guys should get out of here.

SEAN
Your dad is right. There's nothing we can do.

Blake turns around and glances at the bookshelf behind him. He sees a .45 sitting on one of the shelfs. He grabs it without anyone noticing and sticks it in his pants.

BLAKE
Maybe you're right.

The three leave the room.

CUT TO: Outside Sean's House.

SYBIL
What the fuck was wrong with you Sean?

SEAN
Something about your father didn't smell right. He just shot Wallace off the bat. That guy looked nothing like Wallace.

BLAKE
What are you hinting at?

SEAN
We need to sneak back in and find out what your father is doing.

The three sneak back into the house. They creep down the stairs when they hear Joseph's voice.

JOSEPH'S VOICE
Wallace. Why couldn't you just have stayed away. Fuck. What am I talking about. Your bust will make me the most famous Sheriff in the area. Thanks Wallace.

Sean, Blake and Sybil are visible downstairs. Blake pulls out the gun. Sean is taken back.

BLAKE
Dad. Put your hands in the air.

JOSEPH
My little detective. What are you doing back?

BLAKE
Hands up.

Joseph puts his hands in the air and turns to face Blake

JOSEPH
What are you going to do with that gun? Shoot your father. Over what. Some bitch you never met? Some geek you made fun of? Fuck. I thought I'd raised you better than that.

BLAKE
She was a person too.

JOSEPH
So what? Her dad's dead now. He was part of it for a while.

BLAKE
What was it?

JOSEPH
Too much for you to understand. To unfuckingbelievable for you to understand. Really complex shit.

BLAKE
Explain it. I'm still stunned.

JOSEPH
For the fall elections I planned on running for a state Senate position. I figured getting a big case solved would get me it. Roger is Sara's stepfather. Roger married Sara's mother. When she died, Roger and Sara had an affair. Pretty fucked up huh? When I found out I threatened to bust his ass until I thought of something better. Double rape. I set up this psycho Wallace. He was pissed cause he got fired at that video place and had to cut meat at the store.

SEAN
Where he grinded Sara's remains and fed them to people.

JOSEPH
Are you sure you saw what you saw?

BLAKE
Yeah.

JOSEPH

Blake gets out his cell and dials.

SARA
Hello?

BLAKE
Who is this?

SARA'S VOICE
Sara. Who is this?

Blake holds the phone up next to Joseph's ear. Joseph's hands are free but he doesn't do anything.

JOSEPH
It's me honey.

SARA'S VOICE
Oh. What?

JOSEPH
You feelin OK?

SARA'S VOICE
Did he bite?

JOSEPH
Yeah. He bit.

SARA'S VOICE
I'm coming over.

Blake hangs up.

BLAKE
I bit. Lemme break this down dad. You wanted a bust so you set up Wallace who was pissed that his girl, Sara, dumped him. You told him to rape her and tape it. He stabbed her on accident, but it healed? That's possible. That crap about the meat grinder was just to throw us off right?

JOSEPH
Right.

BLAKE
Roger didn't show. He knew everything so you told Wallace to kill him. How am I doin?

JOSEPH
Just like your old pa. You're about to do exactly what I predicted. You still have no clue what the fuck is going on do you? I've thrown you for so many loops it'll take you 15 years just to figure it all out.

SYBIL
Wait. Hold on. Wallace is dead right?

JOSEPH
See that hole in his head? That's fatal.

SEAN
Roger's dead too.

JOSEPH
Thank God yes. He almost ruined the whole thing.

BLAKE
Aren't we ruining it?

JOESPH
Nope. You haven't grasped the idea that you are doing exactly what I had hoped you'd do.

BLAKE
Why blow up the video store?

JOSEPH
That was Wallace, not me.

Joseph thinks he has them calmed down. He reaches for his gun and Blake shoots him.

JOSEPH
Shit. That wasn't in the plan.

BLAKE
Sorry dad. Not everything ends the way you think it's going to. Especially when you're the bad guy.

Joseph dies.

SEAN
Shit man. Give me the gun. It's over.

BLAKE
Sorry man. I bet your dad is going to be pissed.

SEAN
Naw. He'll never see it.

Sean takes the gun from Blake and backs up a few steps before pointing the gun at Blake and Sybil.

SEAN
Hmm. Where have I seen this before?

Sean shoots Sybil. Blake is shocked and startled. Sybil falls down and dies Blake moves to her side.

SEAN
OK. Now the real shit. Roger and Sara had an affair, so did Wallace and Sara, and your father and Sara. Basically she was the town slut. Roger and your father were best friends. Roger got Sara pregnant. They wanted to get married when Roger found out about Wallace. Roger was pissed and kicked her out of the house. Your dad came to her and offered to get rid of her before she made any accusations. Joseph then went to Wallace and told him about Roger and said Sara's pregnant with Roger's child. Wallace was furious and offered to off Sara. Joseph insisted that he rape and kill her on tape. That way they could sell it as a snuff film. So Wallace did. He killed Sara. But he wanted someone to see his directorial debut so he taped over Angst and returned it. You watched it just like he'd hoped you would. Joseph made you question that by having Sara pre-record a few lines on his voicemail. Didn't you recognize the phone number as being your dad's cell? Sara had no idea what she was getting herself into. So, Sara was killed, Roger had second thoughts and Joseph told Wallace that he needed to kill Roger too. So he did. Then Joseph kills Wallace, I don't know why. You kill Joseph. The only question is why am I a part? This is where I don't tell you and I shoot you dead in your tracks. Normally, the bad guy dies and the good guy lives. This just isn't your day.

Sean shoots Blake twice in the head. He drops the gun and walks outside. He walks off down the road. The camera moves back down the street and into Sean's house. We see the dead body of Sybil lying on the floor with the dead body of Blake next to her. The camera moves to Joseph's body on the couch next to Wallace.

SEAN (V.O.)
Where did I come in?

The camera moves to the bookcase. We see a photo of Roger, some lady, and Sean. The camera moves to certificates on the wall. The first is an obituary: Darlene Rider 1964-1995. The second is Sean's high school diploma. The title reads Sean Zachariah Rider.

SEAN (V.O)
Wait. I know what you're thinking. I wasn't Sara's brother. I was Roger's child from his first marriage. It's not always what you think. Sometimes, it's one helluva curveball.
